Contains menu items relevant to the selected window. If not applicable to the current window, they will be inactive (grey). The Command key and following letter after a menu item indicates the command-key combination which will activate that menu item from the keyboard.
New Sheet...
Makes a new empty untitled spreadsheet.
Open Sheet..., Open...
Opens any SchoolStat‚Ñ¢ data file if the spreadsheet is active, a PICT file if the Graphics window is active, or any text file if the Results window is active.
Close
Usually inactive in SchoolStat‚Ñ¢, but when active will close the active window.
Save
Saves the active window to disc and replaces the previously saved version. If the window is untitled, the Save dialog is shown prompting you for a name to save under.
Save As...
Saves the active window after showing the "Save As" dialog box.
Save Selection...
Allows saving of any selection in the spreadsheet (without titles) as a text file.
Revert
Resets the contents of the spreadsheet to that previously saved on disc.
Preferences...
Offers options for formatting the spreadsheet and results, eg the number of decimal places to be used in the Results Log window and plots (1 to 5), and the level of significance to be used in confidence & prediction intervals. Shows the colors available for the graphs, and allows selection of custom colors, styles, sizes and fonts for text. Check the check boxes if you want to simplify the Stats menu options eg to reduce the distraction caused by unfamiliar tests in this menu. If you want the "Descriptive Statistics" item not to calculate the more esoteric items (eg. Geometric, Harmonic means, kurtosis or skewness, etc) then click this check box too. The "Prefer Results as Tables" check box will default all output from Stats menu tests (where possible) into columnar format. You can then edit the results (eg triple click a line to select it) to make complete aligned tables of your results. You can save your preference settings for future sessions by clicking the "Save Prefs" button once you have chosen your set up. A prefs file will be placed in the System folder (within the Preferences folder in system 7). You can drag this to the trash to restore the default settings.
Page Setup...
This presents options for the page layout preparatory to printing. To see the standard printer page setup, you can press the buttton labelled Command Page Setup (or press Command-P).
Print...
This presents the standard printer dialog box with options for the number of pages to be printed, the page orientation, and the page range. Once the options are set correctly, pressing "Print" will print the pages specified. The dialog will refer only to the active window.
Transfer...
This will allow you to open other applications from within SchoolStat‚Ñ¢. If you are using system 7 or Multifinder under system 6, then this will check for enough free memory, and then open the specified application as well as SchoolStat‚Ñ¢. Otherwise SchoolStat‚Ñ¢ will be closed and the selected application will be opened without returning to the Finder (ie the desktop).
Quit
This quits SchoolStat‚Ñ¢. If you have any unsaved work, you will be asked sequentially whether you want to save it.
